First? hey guys was wondering what do you guys think your defense will look like next season? Who do you think stays and will they or should they test /sign in free agents and who most likely gets promoted? Not sure how your prospects (dmen )are doing ?but if they all pan out you guys could have the best or at least the top 3 d groups in the league eventually, imho and congratulations on the draft! Good luck guys with the off season! I'll check back with hopefully your responses..thanks |

Hi! In my opinion our defense needs more veteran experience. Resigning mark streit would be a coup as he has extensive captaincy history with the isles and the Swiss team. He can run a pp and does a lot of little things no one notices.
Amac is in this category too. Doing a lot of little things while bringing a solid two way game! This first pairing is a great start. Even if mistakes are made, their experience makes up for it. Something you won't get out of a young dman.
2 names out there in ufa that are intriguing are roman polak and nick Schultz! These types of dman are critical to playoff success. Blocking shots and taking names |

I'll piggy back I think if we sign a free agent it'd be a guy like Simek. A good friend of gudas who is I believe 24 and has a ton of potential. He also has the czech connection with neuvirth and Jake.
Realistically though I expect provorov MacDonald to run it back again. Gudas to pair with a more fluent puck handler like hagg. And ghost morin mad dog to rotate as the third pairing. While morin and hagg are not in the same realm as our other top prospects morin could project to have a young Coburn effect on the lineup with more nasty while hagg is all honesty what we thought we were getting in Andrew MacDonald someone whose good at everything but excellent at nothing. We still have years to go in terms of being say Nashville loaded on the back end. Simek could be another gem or help with that transition. |

While I would rather have them competing for the cup it's great to see so many Flyers playing in the IIHF.

Agreed. Will only add to a fantastic locker room presence guys like Bellemare bring. Personally, I would bring them back on a small raise as well, just to set an example for the younger guys.
It's like what the Tampa Bay Bucs are doing signing Fitzpatrick. Fantastic experience with seven different NFL teams and a tremendous locker room guy. Can show young bulls like Jameis the right way to do things. Same philosophy. |

Konecny with a nice play on Canada's tying goal. Down 2-0 to to Russia to start the 3rd, Canada scored 3 straight and Couturier added an empty netter to seal a 4-2 win. |

Edit:Quotes on page one not working
I think Hexy has a handshake deal with Shultz. I believe Shultz is going to stay in the area for his kids and will be handy in an emergency.
Hexy already has stated that he is NOT going to sign a veteran d man.
Looks like Morin and Hagg have the inside track to make the team out of camp. I think he wants Sanhiem to works on his defense some more. Myers is a wild card but the fact that he can go to the AHL means there is no rush to get him on the Flyers this year.
We already have a veteran presence in AMac and Gudas, as well as Manning who may be the best vet of all to show the rookies just how much hard work it takes to carve out a career in the NHL! |

I'd love to snag Alexsi Heponiemi in the 3rd.
Scott Reedy is intriguing too. 200 ft player, needs to work on skating big time though.
Jonah Gadjovich seems like a "safe" Hexy pick in the later rounds. |

If Hepo is there in the 3rd, it's a very good long term potential pick. The others.....nah. Reedy sucked when I saw him. And Gadjovich could go in the 2nd/3rd, and I don't think a ton of him either there. Older, mature player on a powerhouse. Works hard, gritty, but he's just not that skilled and is pretty vanilla. |

Tbh I haven't even watched Reedy that much at all. Just the #SIZE stuck out to me and I read a couple other reports on him as well as a YouTube video. |

Reedy is average sized, but he doesn't really play big. He's just a flashy stickhandler who tries to deke everyone. As a hockey player, when I saw him at the u18s, he fell short and left little impression. |

Like his skill. Not sure about the hockey sense. He's another guy that tries to dangle everyone and anyone, and I'm not sure he plays a pro game on/off puck.
Heponiemi is a guy for example I don't have these concerns about whatsoever. He's just barely 150 lbs and is so physically outmatched. Hence the long-term potential risk/reward. Smarts/skills are there. |
